Join us to celebrate the launch of Ikon’s new exhibitions Start the Press! and Exodus Crooks: Epiphany (Temporaire).

The centrepiece of Start the Press! is an antique, flatbed printing press from Wolverhampton School of Art, operated by eight West Midlands printmakers, establishing a functioning printmaking workshop. Artists include: Taiba Akhtar, Haseebah Ali, Simon Harris, Fae Kilburn, Karen McLean, Laura Onions, Satinder Parhar and Heather Peak. The exhibition also features artworks by Lubaina Himid, David Hockney, Yinka Shonibare and Catherine Yass loaned from the Jerwood Collection, plus prints by artist Pamela Scott Wilkie who first exhibited at Ikon in 1966.

Ikon hosts Midlands-based artist Exodus Crooks’ exhibition Epiphany (Temporaire), commissioned by Ort Gallery and International Curators Forum (ICF), originally presented at Block 336 in Summer 2023. Epiphany (Temporaire) features sculpture, film, text and sculptural installation and is curated by UK-based Pan-African and Diasporic art curator and cultural producer, Orphée Kashala.

Both exhibitions run 9 February – 21 April 2024 and are presented as part of Ikon’s 60th anniversary year.
