Everyone is welcome to join in with community carols at Worcester Cathedral on Thursday 2 December at 4.45pm. The Mayor of Worcester will process from the Cathedral to the Cornmarket, where the Fayre will be officially opened at 5.30pm.
Explore a Victorian Slum
Make your way down The Shambles and look out for the precarious Gin Lane alleyway to hang out with hawkers and flower sellers, magic and alchemy, urchins, gin addiction, singing and dancing. Sing along to old music hall favourites with ‘Play It Again Dan’ as he tinkles the ivories and be entertained by ‘Lee’s Fleas.’ Watch out for prowling pickpockets!
You can find Gin Lane between New Street and The Shambles on Saturday 4 December between 4.00pm and 8.00pm, and Sunday 5 December between midday and 4.00pm.
Live Music throughout the Fayre
Community groups will once again be returning to stages in Cathedral Square and Bell Square in the Crowngate Shopping Cenre throughout the event. Look out for performances from Perry Wood, Red Hill, Tudor Grange, Carnforth, Lyppard Grange, Our Lady Queen of Peace, St. Barnabas, St. Clements and St. George’s Catholic primary schools.
There will also be performances from pupils at the Elgar School of Music, Worcester Ukulele Club, Nunnery Big Band and the Worcester Rock Choir, amongst others.
There will also be a stage with further entertainment in front of The Cardinal’s Hat pub on Friar Street.
Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson
Stilt-walking super sleuths Holmes and Watson will be investigating the implausible and solving some complex crimes around the streets of Worcester. They’ll be out and about on Sunday 5 December.
