St John Ambulance continues Fully Funded Young Responders Programme in New Format for 2024!

 

St John Ambulance have committed to funding the programme throughout 2024 and our managers and fundraising team are busy exploring new funding options for 2025 and beyond. This means that we are able to continue to offer Young Responders sessions free of charge throughout this year.

Many of you had a choice of three Young Responders sessions when you first engaged with the programme (physical first aid, street violence first aid and mental health awareness). As the programme has gone on we have been busy collecting feedback from all of our partners and the young people we deliver to. As a result, the team have made some adjustments to the programme that we hope will make it more interactive, ensure young people gain more first aid skills and put it into a format that we believe is more relevant and accessible to, helping young people to place their learning into context.

This means that this year, rather than booking separate first aid sessions, you will be able to book one Street First Aid session which is delivered in the style of a narrative, taking the young people on a journey through a role play story that will enable them to learn Street First Aid Skills, incorporating:

• CPR
• Primary Survey
• Recovery Position
• Drink Spiking/Intoxication 
• Mental health awareness

There will be plenty of opportunity for the young people aged 11 - 25 years to practice first aid and discuss, as the Facilitator takes them through the narrative. You can choose a one hour, 1.5 hour or 2 hour session and each one adopts the same format, but how much time you book will depend on how much detail is covered. This may be delivered in a school, college or community setting.

We are keen to reach as many statutory and voluntary organisations across the Northeast and West Midlands so please feel free to share this information with any organisations who you feel may benefit and remember that the Young Responders makes a great addition to HAF but can also be delivered to a wide range of schools, youth groups and community organisations throughout the year!
