WE NEED VOLUNTEER POLICE CADETS - 1DC 'CORPS OF DRUMS' UNIT BASED AT TALLY HO, SAT 10:00 - 12:00 Hrs

We have an amazing opportunity for 13 to 17 year old's (Year 8 students and above).

Our Cadet Scheme supports young people between the ages of 13-17 years and Cadets come from a variety of different backgrounds.

The only requirement is that they need to live and/or attend education within the West Midlands Police Force area.

For those young people who are completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award, this could also cover the ‘volunteering’ and ‘skills’ requirement.

1DC “Corps of Drums” unit focuses on learning how to play the drums and how to march for events across the West Midlands.

The Unit is based at TALLY HO, Learning and development Centre, Pershore Road, Edgbaston, B5 7RN.

Cadets at 1 DC Unit meet Saturdays, 10 – 12 pm usually meet weekly during the school term but also additional dates for other events.

There is NO COST to the young person or family and we also provide the West Midlands Police Cadet uniform FREE OF CHARGE.

We have had many Cadets decide they wish to Join the West Midlands Police service after joining Cadets but this is not a prerequisite.

We believe this would be a bonus if this was to happen).

All we ask for is the interest to learn, commitment to attend sessions and participle fully in the scheme.

We have Cadets who have never picked up a pair of sticks before!

Free parking on site or if using public transport; Buses from the City centre will stop outside the venue.

The scheme covers a curriculum, based around active citizenship, police studies, well-being and personal development, diversity and inclusion and the world around them; as well as attending community engagement events to support local communities and policing initiatives and much more.

Effectively we encourage young people to develop key life skills, and become active citizens within their communities.

All our Cadet Leaders are vetted by West Midlands Police, have an enhanced DBS and complete mandatory safeguarding training.
