Sandwell is turning 50 – share your Windrush stories with us

As part of Sandwell's 50th anniversary year, we plan to commemorate Windrush Day on 22 June, and we are asking Sandwell people to help us tell the 'Stories of the Windrush Generation in Sandwell’.

Windrush Day seeks to honour the men and women who migrated to the UK between the period of the anchoring of the HMT Empire Windrush, at Tilbury Docks, on 21 June 1948 and the Immigration Act 1971.

If you have Windrush Generation connections – whether yourself or if you are a relative, friend or neighbour of someone who would like to share their memories, stories and photographs of life in Sandwell – we want to hear from you.

Your story could feature on our social media channels and our Celebrate Sandwell website. Your memories will also help us showcase 50 years of Sandwell in the Sandwell Herald.

If you have a Windrush Generation story – or any stories on other themes that will help us celebrate Sandwell's 50th – please send your memories to celebrate_sandwell@sandwell.gov.uk
